Community and Livestock Abudwaq
In 2020, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) collaborated with Solargen Technologies to implement a solar project in Abudwaaq District, located in the Galgaduud Region of Somalia. The project involved the installation of a 20.8 kW solar system, designed to benefit both the local community and livestock.
The solar system, installed by Solargen Technologies, serves multiple purposes, including providing electricity for community infrastructure and supporting the needs of livestock farmers in the area. By harnessing solar energy, the project aims to improve access to reliable electricity, enhance agricultural productivity, and promote sustainable development in Abudwaaq District.
Through this initiative, IOM demonstrates its commitment to supporting communities in Somalia, particularly in rural areas where access to basic services and electricity infrastructure may be limited. The project contributes to improving livelihoods, fostering resilience, and empowering local residents to build a more sustainable future in Galgaduud Region.
