Lightening 3 Villages
In 2023, Oxfam collaborated with Solargen Technologies to address lighting needs in three villages across Somaliland. The project involved installing lighting systems for Guumeys Village in Sool region, Dhanaano Village, and Dhudhub-dhiilo Village in Sanaag region.
Each village was equipped with 9 lighting poles, featuring 100W solar panels to ensure sustainable and reliable lighting. Solargen Technologies managed the installation, bringing their expertise in solar solutions to enhance accessibility and safety in these rural areas.
The solar-powered lighting systems illuminated streets, pathways, and communal areas within the villages, providing residents with enhanced visibility and security during nighttime hours. Additionally, the use of solar energy reduced reliance on traditional grid electricity, promoting environmental sustainability.
Through this collaborative effort, Oxfam and Solargen Technologies demonstrated their commitment to improving the quality of life for rural communities in Somaliland. The project’s impact extended beyond lighting provision, fostering community development and resilience in Guumeys, Dhanaano, and Dhudhub-dhiilo Villages.
