In 2023, Oxfam partnered with Solargen Technologies to address water supply challenges in Guumays Village, located in the Sool Region of Somaliland. The project involved the installation of a hybrid system, combining solar energy and a generator to provide 138 m3 of water per day to the community.

The hybrid system was designed to ensure reliable and sustainable water supply, especially in areas where access to electricity from the grid is limited. Solargen Technologies, known for its expertise in solar solutions, was responsible for the installation and integration of the hybrid system.

By harnessing solar energy and utilizing a backup generator when needed, the project aimed to ensure continuous water supply for various community needs, including drinking, sanitation, and agricultural activities. This initiative not only addressed immediate water scarcity issues but also contributed to enhancing the resilience of the community against future water challenges.

Through this collaboration, Oxfam and Solargen Technologies demonstrated their commitment to improving access to clean water and promoting sustainable development in rural areas of Somaliland. The project’s impact extended beyond water provision, as it empowered the community and fostered socio-economic development in Guumays Village.
